Bruce Stratton (Inducted in 2014)

Bruce was born in 1971 Norwich, NY, and grew up in Earlville, NY, about 15 minutes from Unadilla.  He started riding at the age of 7, and his first bike was a red Rupp 80.  His first race was at Oriskany Falls in the fall of 1980.  He grew up in central NY following district #3.   He won mini championships, and in 1986 got 6th at Loretta Lynn’s in the schoolboy class.  He turned expert in 1987, and his first professional race was in 1988 at Broome-Tioga in the 125 class.  He rode 4 or 5 nationals over the next couple years.   

In addition to riding, he attended college, going to SUNY Morrisville and RIT and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.  During his college years he obtained a two-digit national number, which started his run of 14 years of consecutive 2-digit national numbers until he retired in 2005.   

Bruce currently lives in Hopeland, just outside of Canandaigua, and works at Garlock Sealing Technologies as a Product Portfolio Leader.  He has two kids, Sarah and Jessica, and recently has started riding trials and in the woods more.
